Whinfell Pendle Birch Trees Wrapping Qualities: The chunky wool gives texture and a nice amount of cushioning and grip. The thick wool is spaced out by thinner cotton threads making for a very floppy, draping cloth that wraps easily, moulding around you both.

Care Requirements: Despite having a low wool content, this wrap is very easy to care for. It can be washed on a delicate setting and tumble dried on low heat. We recommend taking out when damp and then hanging to air dry, or ironing when damp. Find our washing instructions here. The wool yarns are a blend of wool and cotton fibres which helps to stabilise them further in the wash.

Notes: 3 different coloured chunky texture lambswool yarns form a gradient colour change. In between each wool weft yarn are 2 deep indigo purple combed cotton threads. Whinfell is the name of a forest in Cumbria, here in the North of England. It is one of the relatively few places in the UK where you can still find red squirrels!

Our limited edition wraps are made from cloth that is woven in Lancashire, England from ethically sourced yarns, and our wraps are sewn by hand here too! All wraps are fully reversible, meaning that you can wear them either side out for two different looks to the design.

These wraps are packaged in one of our black mesh delicates laundry bags.

These wraps are worth 3 points towards our loyalty club membership.

Woven Wrap Sizing

Wrap sizes don’t work in the same way as clothing.

Size numbers refer to the length of the woven wrap- the larger the number, the longer the wrap.

Each size is 50cm (20”) longer than the previous size.

SIZE 1 = 2.2M (7’2”)
SIZE 2 = 2.7M (8’8”)
SIZE 3 = 3.2M (10’ 8”)
SIZE 4 = 3.7M (12’)
SIZE 5 = 4.2M (13’8)
SIZE 6 = 4.7M (15’4”)
SIZE 7 = 5.2M (17’)
SIZE 8 = 5.7M (18’7”)
SIZE 9 = 6.2M (20’3”)

Each length offers different options for tying, so there isn’t a single size that will ‘fit you.

Your body size will determine how big a wrap you need for tying each specific carry. For example, the Front Wrap Cross Carry is a popular starter carry. Some people will be able to use a size 6 for this carry, but others may need a longer (or shorter) wrap depending on their body and baby size.

Just love the colors of this wrap, and this dark warm brown is so shiny, even after a wash! I’m not an experienced wrapper and always wondering about the many attributes a wrap can have. Wore this in a simple ruck after wash and it was easy to wrap with, yet the knot stayed in place, although it was only a single one for a short up for cooking. It feels much thinner than my Delph and not very woolly, more like cotton, but of course it has much less wool.
Get it, it is really beautiful!

  2. Sadie

Whinfell is even more gorgeous in person than you can imagine. The colors are vibrant yet understated at the same time. The pink shining through the warm pendle warp gives off a plum sort of feel. For having such a low wool content, the wool is definitely detectable. This wrap tolerated my American front load washer on delicate just fine. One of our favorites!

  3. Rebecca Kvasnicka (verified owner)

Whinfell is even more gorgeous in person than I expected. I bought a shortly for myself to use as a shawl, scarf, blanket, and it has quickly become my “night out” shawl. I tend to steer clear of wool, but this wool doesn’t irritate my skin and my kids love to cozy up with it as well.

  4. Belen (verified owner)

Esta envoltura es ideal si buscas algo suave, maleable, y esponjoso . Sus colores son perfectos. Y tiene un excelente agarre. Lo recomendaría para un bebe recien nacido pero también para un bebé toddler.

  5. Kimberley Anderson (verified owner)

This wraps wonderfully. A mid weight wool and cotton blend is not the most grippy I’ve tried, but the pattern gives some grip, and birches seem uniquely spreadable and malleable. At 290gsm it’s on the cushier rather than precision side, but not to an extreme: ideal for a quick double hammock or semi Charlie’s. The pink of whinfell is so nicely tempered by the Pendle warp. Normally I would have shied away from brighter pinks, worrying that they might match my face. A mud coloured warp really does have many uses. I watched a friend try a double hammock in it and it made me so happy to see this stunning piece of cloth in action!

I absolutely love this wrap. The blend is not that grippy, but the pattern contributes some grip, as well as unique malleability. It does feel its 290gsm – not thin, but perfectly cushy and pliable enough for 90% of the carries we actually do: e.g. a double hammock or semi Charlie’s (mine is base) with my large 2 year old. The whinfell pink is bolder than I’d usually choose (I’d worry it might match my face on a cold day), but here it is so perfectly tempered by the pendle warp. So many advantages to a mud coloured wrap! My friend used it the other day and seeing it spread out in action, in person, was joyous!
