Related Wraps: Seaspray Cyano Tentacular Spectacular is this wrap’s sister wrap, woven side by side on a split warp with the same design and weft. Crucible Burnish Petography is the only other wrap that we have woven with cotton, merino and hemp but it is a very different wrap.

Review – From Wrapasaurus on Instagram

OK, upfront I’m admitting to being a Fispi geek and this review reeks of geekery, sorry no apologies for that :see_no_evil::joy:
If you’re not into the geekery so much: this will take a little more breaking in than the average Firespiral but is by no means beastly, it’s soft and easy to use but will get better and softer with use. This tighter Elements weave wrap has a nice solidity to it, it’s strong, grippy and should suit all ages but there are softer Firespirals for newborns if you’re looking to buy brand new.
I’ve been trying to work out what other Firespirals this compares to and I’m struggling…
Seaspray shares the solidity of other Elements weave woolly wraps (I’ve tried Orion Starmap and Medlock Seafoam) but the pattern gives it more grip, which is welcome as I’ve found the tighter weave tends to be smoother and less grippy. These other wraps required a little breaking in to develop that characteristic Elements weave bandagey stretch and with couple of weeks use Seaspray hasn’t got there yet.
Crucible is the only other wool/hemp Fispi to date, but again Seaspray is different. Crucible is Alchemy weave and the wool used isn’t cottonised in the same way as the wool in Seaspray. Seaspray feels flatter and less cushy, it’s more solid and less bouncy, more “hempy” than woolly.
I feel it also ought to share the wrap qualities of Spindrift and Galena since the weft in Seaspray is made up 50/50 with the yarns used for those wefts. Again, it might be the tighter weave and busier pattern that makes those comparisons less obvious but there are some similarities. I expect them to become more obvious as the wrap softens up.
So no, it doesn’t wrap quite like anything else. If you’re on tenterhooks waiting for Crucible in brighter colours, you won’t find it in Seaspray’s dense solidity, but if you wish your Galena had less bounce, your Medlock had more grip and your Spindrift was a bit thicker then this could be the wrap for you.
