Kokiri Mercury Birch Trees is a 70% organic combed cotton 30% linen wrap, woven using our Alchemy weave. This airy and fluid weave means that at 325GSM, Kokiri is thick but still wraps easily. The Peruvian linen gives it a chunky texture and a nice sliding grip. This wrap can easily support even heavy toddlers!

Backordered items are made to order and are usually ready to send to you in around 2 weeks.
Each of these wraps are slightly unique, due to variance in the tone and hue of the linen weft used throughout the weave run. They all have the same olive and spring green cotton weft alternated throughout the cloth. There are a few wraps that have a more striking difference in colour, and those are listed separately for clarity.

Kokiri is strong and sturdy, but the linen is not as intense to break in as some other recent linen blends (whinlatter is definitely more beastly). It’s got some good grip, and is still reasonable to use on a young baby. Plus the green being different on each wrap is such a neat feature, giving a one of a kind wrap to each of us!

I bought Kokiri in a size 4 which is about a base-1.5 or 2 for me (we might be in between sizes). In my opinion this is the perfect size for this wrap.
    First impressions:
This was the first time I’ve felt a loomstate wrap so these thoughts might be normal but it was a really interesting experience for me. Straight out of the bag it was so uniform and flat in the threads and pretty rough to the touch. It felt pretty stiff and not a lot of drape. The colors made me smile and the wrap shimmered. After one wash, dry, and iron it fluffed up immensely! I was immediately struck by how one wash made it softer (though it’s still not a “soft” wrap). I was amazed by the texture. This is such a chunky, fun texture which the more I learn about Firespiral I think is because of the alchemy weave. The contrast is really amazing. Now that I’ve owned it almost a year, it has taken on that lovely “buttery” linen feel. It has broken in beautifully.

The first carry we tried was ruck tied in front. I had my 20-lb boy up for at least 20 minutes for breakfast prep very comfortable with very little shoulder strain. Though most wouldn’t describe linen blends as having “cushion”, I feel like there is a certain kind of cushiness that can be achieved with a blend like this. It’s heftier and thicker than any linen blend I’ve tried (for reference I’ve tried Gamma starmap and Indigo COP). The thickness lends itself to a more cushioned feel than either of those thinner wraps I’ve tried. We tried semi pocket wrap cross carry later that day. It proved to help a cranky baby fall asleep. It holds a slip knot like a BOSS. We tried twisted pirate today so I could try out a multi pass back carry. Perfect slip knot once again. The grip to glide ratio has more grip than glide but still slippy enough with the Mercury warp for a pass to get in place nicely. There is a decent amount of diagonal stretch which gives just enough bounce to a carry but the linen blend helps it remain extremely supportive.
    Colors
They are everything I wanted them to be. This wrap is gorgeous. The warp side is so lovely making me think of spring trees against a cloudy sky. The weft side is truly breathtaking. My wrap has the light spring green, a very light almost creamy color, and an olive green. The olive almost hides in the Mercury warp which, though grey, does have those olive tones. The effect is this shimmery green that changes in the light making all the wrap colors (both sides) either contrast nicely, all appear greyish, or all appear greenish.
    Final thoughts
This is a great wrap. I’m starting to think I do like some of the wool blends more, but my first love was linen. For linen lovers this is your wrap. The medium weight makes it easy to work with while remaining supportive, the texture is incredible, and the colors are absolutely stunning. It’s a great all rounder and is the wrap I reach for the most in my stash.

    Great all-around ruck shorty!
First of all, I want to mention the scent of warp. It was my first time feeling that some wrap has her scent, and although I’m a scent-free kind of person I liked it!
This wrap is thick but airy, nicely pleats on shoulders, and passes glide easily.
I do miss a bit of grip but I loved the texture of the wrap and couldn’t stop touching it while wearing 😆
